We are committed to supporting and providing optimal wellbeing to neglected and indigent African girl children to enable them to overcome challenges, stereotypes and societal handicaps known to prevent them from attaining their fullest possible potential.

Mrs. Blossom Omeiza-Emmanuel

The average African girl goes through a lot of suppression, oppression and several cases of abuse before turning into a woman. Some are victims of circumstances such as broken marriages/homes, unwanted pregnancy/single parenting, and vices of cultural victimization such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). At least one out of every three African girls is a victim of these menaces.

For these reasons, we hope to fight the cause and effect of these menaces in the lives of the girl children and give them reasons to boldface the future with optimism.

We also discover young girls in hard-to-reach areas of the community and strategize on how to help them receive helpful information that could shape their worldview accurately and help them overcome the ignorance that causes them to make costly life mistakes. We also come in where parents are either absent or have failed to provide their girl children with the support they need for a healthy and happy growing and living.

Advocacy for Indigent Young African Girls

We at Parakletos African Girls Foundation believe in reaching out to the girl child at every level. We achieve this by often embarking on urban and rural empowerment programmes designed to reach, train and groom young girls. During these outreaches, they learn real skills that could help them earn a living. When they learn how to earn a living, they become self-sustaining and less dependent on (or handicapped by) the need for a guardian/parental support which is often unavailable. This is why our work is structured around advocacy support for indigent young African girls.

We promote education for every girl child because knowledge is power. There are girls who are indigent but intelligent; we sponsor their tuition fees and provide materials necessary for their education.

We also collaborate with other Non-Governmental Organizations to fight against Female Genital Mutilation through sensitization, one-on-one encounter and jingles.

During the year, we organize summer programmes, seminars and workshops to educate girl children on the uniqueness of the femininity. We teach them moral values that will boost their interpersonal relationship in society. Our foundation also coaches them on good cultural value systems which we deem necessary for the benefit of every girl child.

Events & Outreaches

From time to time, we organize outreaches to secondary schools in urban and rural settlements with the aim of enlightening girl children through training, seminars and workshops. We make these sessions highly interactive so that we can harvest meaningful feedback and identify the really indigent girls who we need to give the most immediate attention and succour to.

Competitions are also part of these events and participants who are highly involved could stand to win various prizes.

We also discover at these outreaches which girls would receive full or partial scholarships to enable them to fulfil their dreams of completing their education.
