About Us

Who We Are

We are Parakletos African Girls Foundation, a fully-registered Non-Governmental Organization born out of a strong passion for the girl child and saddled with the responsibility to help every African girl discover the beauty in their femininity,  harness their God-given potential to pursue their bright future, and fulfil their great destinies.

Brief History

Parakletos African Girls Foundation originally began with the name Discovering Grace Empowerment Team (DGET) in the year 2013 by Mrs Blossom Omeiza-Emmanuel, then in her late twenties.

She launched a summer programme aimed at discovering young talented boys and girls. The programme lasted close to a month and culminated in a competition/prize-giving event climaxing the end of the programme.

The best singer, actor/actress, public speaker, artist, etc. received prizes. During the summer programme, the children and teenagers were taught how to:

  • Play the keyboard
  • Draw and paint
  • Prepare liquid soap, bleach etc.
  • Bake a cake and make ice cream etc.
  • Dance and sing

After 2013, she went on to further receive training and exposure on how to reach out to her target audience: the girl child.

In 2017, she came up with another summer programme tagged “True Talk for Young Girls” This programme attracted the attention of the public both within and outside Nigeria. A lot of online friends showed great interest to partner with the organization in helping to groom young girls to womanhood.

At this juncture, we came in contact with Miss Oluebube Lynda who used her position as the second Queen at the Miss Africa Washington Pageant to single-handedly raise funds to sponsor some African girls. We sponsored the tuition fee of two indigent girls and registered the West African Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) for one of them.

We went on to register the organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to enable us to operate as an entity at a corporate level. Upon registration, the name was changed to Parakletos African Girls Foundation in order to embrace the new holistic vision of the organization.

Vision Statement

To inspire, encourage and advocate for disadvantaged, disillusioned and neglected young African Girls in order to help them look beyond their unique challenges and realize their fullest dreams and potentials.

Milestones

We have sponsored two girls to receive formal education in secondary schools, one of which graduated in the year 2019 after writing her WASSCE.

Most of the young girls we trained in 2013 are presently in universities. Three (3) of them are in Medical Colleges, one (a male) is a graduate of Accountancy, and several others are studying various courses of interest in different faculties. One of them has become a pro artist and is able to make beautiful portraits as well as create other forms of artistic work.
